My Approach
Humorous + Authentic
My approach to therapy is centered on building a strong, trusting relationship with my clients. I prioritize authenticity and humor, creating a comfortable space where you can express yourself freely. I utilize a blend of therapeutic modalities, including play therapy and art therapy, to engage clients in ways that resonate with them.
Evidence-Based
I am trained in both TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) and TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), which are both trauma-informed approaches that support clients, especially those with trauma or attachment disruptions. TBRI focuses on building trust, emotional regulation, and attachment through relational strategies, helping clients feel safe and learn self-regulation. TF-CBT, on the other hand, addresses trauma by helping clients process traumatic memories, challenge negative thoughts, and develop healthy coping skills, often involving caregivers for added support. Together, these therapies complement each other by combining TBRI's relational, safety-building techniques with TF-CBT's trauma processing and cognitive strategies, offering a holistic and evidence-based approach to healing.
LGBTQ+ Safe Space
At Fig Tree, I provide compassionate and affirming therapy tailored for the LGBTQ+ community. I have worked with many clients who identify as transgender or nonbinary, or who have begun their transition journey. As a bisexual woman myself, I am able to understand the unique challenges and experiences faced by individuals in this space, and create a safe and inclusive environment where you can explore your identity, navigate relationships, and address mental health concerns. Together, we’ll work towards empowerment, healing, and personal growth.
Additionally, I am a kink-allied therapist, have worked with many polyamorous couples and families, and enjoy assisting my clients while they navigate their own identities.
